Research Finds AI and Human Art Difficult to Distinguish, But People Prefer Human Creations
Generative AI creations and human art are difficult to distinguish visually, with research indicating that participants had only about a 50% accuracy rate. Despite participants' lack of confidence regarding the source of the artworks, they showed a stronger emotional inclination towards genuine human creations, particularly in terms of self-reflection, appeal, nostalgia, and entertainment. The study reveals the potential of generative AI, suggesting that while it is challenging to ascertain the source of art, it opens new possibilities for AI applications in the creative realm. There are differences in people's feelings towards human and AI art, and although the reasons remain uncertain, there is a clear preference for human creations.
